Wire load is something that everyone pays close attention to before purchasing wires. Currently, the commonly used wire specifications in daily life include 1 square wire, 1.5 square wire, 2.5 square wire, 4 square wire, 6 square wire, etc. So how many watts can these wires carry? Well, this is what everyone is more concerned about. Let me tell you in detail how many watts 1, 1.5, 2.5, 4, and 6 square meters of wire can carry.

The allowable long-term load current for 1 square meter of copper core wire is: 8A—12A

The allowed long-term load current of 1.5 square copper core wire is: 12A--15A

The allowable long-term load current of 2.5 square copper core wire is: 16A--25A

The allowable long-term load current of 4 square meters of copper core wire is: 25A--32A

The allowable long-term load current of 6 square meters of copper core wire is: 32A--40A

1. How many watts can 1 square meter of wire carry? How much current?

1 square meter of copper wire can withstand 6 amps of current. A square meter of aluminum core cable can withstand a current of 3A-5A.

The current ampere that a copper wire can withstand is related to the length of the cable, the type of wiring layout, and the ambient temperature in which the cable is used. Indoors, copper wires of less than 6 square millimeters are generally safe if the current does not exceed 10A per square meter.

Estimated according to "Electrician Experience Algorithm":

Because the copper core wire can pass a rated current of about 4.5-5A per square millimeter of cross-sectional area, and in a single-phase 220V line, the current per 1KW is about 4.5A. In a three-phase (including three-phase four-wire three-phase) circuit , the current per 1KW power is about 2A, so it can be selected. If it is a single-phase circuit, the wire required for each 1KW power is basically 1 square millimeter. In a three-phase circuit, every 1 square millimeter of copper wire can be passed Current of about 2-2.5KW power.

2. How many watts can a 1.5 square meter wire carry? How much current?

Although the usage rate of 1.5 square wires is not as high as that of 2.5 square wires, it also has its own wire load limit. The calculation method for the current of a 1.5 square millimeter wire is as follows: The current carrying capacity of household wires is generally single-phase, and the maximum power it can receive (Pm) is: Taking 1.5 square millimeters as an example:

Pm = Voltage U

Therefore, a 1.5 square meter wire can withstand a load of 3723 watts.

3. How many watts can a 2.5 square meter wire carry? How much current?

The safe current carrying capacity of 2.5 square wires is ≈22A.

Depending on the line voltage, 380V and 220V are commonly used, and their load carrying loads are different:

1. 220V one-way AC power: P=IUcosφ=220×22×0.9=4.4kw

2. 380V three-phase alternating current: P=√3IUcosφ=1.732×380×22×0.9=13kw

4. How many watts can a 4 square meter wire carry? How much current?

According to the formula, if a 4 square meter copper wire is calculated as a 6 square meter aluminum wire, its safe current carrying capacity is 7 times the cross section, that is, 6x7=42A, so the safe current carrying capacity of a 4 square meter copper wire is 42A.

If it is three-phase, the power is calculated as follows:

P=1.732UIcosφ =1.732x0.38x42x0.85=23kW (calculated using three-phase mains power, the power factor is 0.85).

If it is single phase, the power is calculated as follows:

P=UIcosφ =0.22x42x0.65=6kW (calculated using single-phase mains power, the power factor is 0.65).

5. How many watts can a 6 square meter wire carry? How much current?

There is no direct relationship between the number of kilowatts of power that a 6 square meter wire can carry and the power delivered. Generally speaking, 6 square meters of wire is more than enough for air conditioning wires. Maintenance power supplies on construction sites generally use 10x6+1x4 cables. As for the current intensity it can withstand, according to my construction experience, this kind of cable is generally controlled by a 63A air switch. 6 square meters of aluminum wire can carry 6 kilowatts, and 6 square meters of copper wire can carry 10 kilowatts.

6. How many watts can 10 square meters of wire carry? How much current?

One square copper core can withstand 7A current.

Therefore, 10 square meters of copper core can withstand the current as follows: 10×7=70A

220V single-phase electrical appliances have a current of 4.55A per kilowatt.

Then we can divide the current that 10 square copper cores can withstand by the current that one square copper core can withstand to get how many kilowatts 10 square copper cores can withstand, as follows: 70A÷4.55≈15.4KW.
